More Regional Parties Shunning Congress Now
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 Nov 2020 12:30 PM ISTPost Bihar debacle, the Congress Party is becoming an untouchable of sorts. Most analysts and even the Rashtriya Janata Dal are of the opinion that the Congress has let down the RJD in Bihar polls. Most of the Congress candidates have lost badly despite claiming a larger share in ticket distribution. Due to this, the RJD could not reach its target.
Now, after the Bihar defeat, here comes the real shocker. The Samajwadi Party has categorically said that it would not ally with the Congress party in any election now. He said that the Samajwadi Party will only ally with smaller regional parties and never with the Congress. His statement assumes significance as even Mayawati has recently said that she would rather vote for the BJP candidate than to vote for the Congress candidate. Even during the 2017 UP assembly elections, both the SP and the BSP were against having any alliance with the Congress Party.
In Bihar the Congress demanded and got 86 seats, but got only 16 seats in the elections. The poor strike rate of the Congress has actually affected the overall performance of the RJD. With this, there is every possibility that the Congress may not get any electoral partner in the coming elections in major parts of north India.
