More restrictions to come in place in Vizag for New Year!

The countdown for New Year's eve has started and the celebratory vibe will start from Saturday. Keeping the eve in mind, the excise department had given its nod for the bars and liquor stalls to run the business for one more hour than the usual working hours.
However, to see that no unwanted scenes would surface, the shore city Visakhapatnam would see a few restrictions for New Year. While traffic diversions would come in a few areas, vehicles would not be allowed to travel in certain areas.
Vizag ADCP (Traffic) Ch Adinarayana said that traffic restrictions will come in place from today evening itself and from 8 PM, the traffic movement would be restricted on the roads that lead to RK beach, Jodugullapalem, Sagar Nagar, Rushikonda, Bheemili, and Yarada beaches.
Besides this, no vehicles would be allowed between 10 PM and 5 AM in the Naval Coast Battery and Bheemili road. The Telugu Talli flyover and NDA flyover would be completely shut on the eve. On top of this, all the leading junctions would also be closed to the public.
As part of the precautionary measures, the cops are making special arrangements to look for drunk and drive cases. All the commuters would be checked for drunk and drive and the violators will be slapped with punishment. If anyone is found driving vehicles after consuming alcohol, they will not be spared. Not just this, a special eye would be kept on the bike racers in the city and special focus would be given on famous junctions.
Having said that, the cops said that, the bars and restaurants which were granted permission to run the business should have to strictly follow the prescribed guidelines and no violations will be entertained at any cost.
No public celebrations will be permitted for New Year and all the public gatherings have been banned. It has to be noted that, the restrictions were imposed the previous year too keeping the Covid pandemic in mind. Coming to now, the restrictions were imposed in the wake of the newly detected virus variant Omicron ringing the danger bells.
