The online voter enrolment system put in place for the Graduate MLC constituency elections has proved successful. According to election commission sources as many as 10 lakh graduates have enrolled themselves as voters for the elections.

The elections would be held for 2 graduate MLC seats – Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar seat and Nalgonda-Waranga-Khammam seat. In the Karimnagar seat as many as 5.15 lakh voters have enrolled themselves, while another 5 lakh graduates had applied for the Hyderabad seat. This is almost the double of the enrolment done during the last elections in 2014.

In 2014, the total number of voters enrolled is 5.70 lakh. Hyderabad MLC constituency had 2.70 lakh votes, while Nalgonda seat had 3 lakh voters. Authorities say that the rise in the number of voters is mainly due to the introduction of online enrolment method. All the major parties – TRS, BJP, TDP, Congress, TJS, left parties and independents – have worked hard to recruit votes in a big way. The election commission has announced that the last date for recruitment has been extended till December 31.
