Legendary South African cricketer AB de Villiers, who enjoys a fan following across the globe shared the news of throwing a hat on retirement from all forms of cricket. His glorious career that lasted for 17 long years saw him playing his role in South Africa's memorable wins across platforms. He issued a statement in this regard.

Calling his journey an incredible one, 37-year-old AB de Villiers said he had the same enthusiasm over the years like he played the game with his brothers in their backyard. Citing his age as the reason, Mr.360 said, the flame in him is not burning brightly and hence he is taking retirement.

"It has been an incredible journey, but I have decided to retire from all cricket. Ever since the back yard matches with my older brothers, I have played the game with pure enjoyment and unbridled enthusiasm. Now, at the age of 37, that flame no longer burns so brightly," the veteran player said in a tweet.

In another tweet, the veteran said the game has been kind to him irrespective of for whom he plays be it South Africa, RCB, or Titans. Saying that he received a lot of experiences and opportunities, AB de Villiers said he is grateful for this.

This is sad news for the Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) fans as Virat Kohli already announced the decision to step down as the skipper. AB de Villiers has been a part of the RCB squad for the past ten years. The South African player is one of the reasons behind RCB's loyal fan base despite not winning a single trophy over the years.

Having joined the play bold squad RCB in 2011, AB de Villiers had scored more than 5,000 runs, making him one of the successful players in the Indian Premier League(IPL) tournament.

"I'm going to be an RCBian for life. Every single person in the RCB set-up has become family to me. People come & go, but the spirit & the love we have for each other at RCB will always remain. I've become half Indian now & I'm proud of that," RCB tweeted sharing the video of AB de Villiers.
