A Gujarat-based Jeweller placed a letter issuing hijack threat inside one of the toilets of a Mumbai-Delhi Jet Airways Flight. He even had plans to plant many more such threat letters in the plane.

Birju Kishore Salla, the accused, admitted doing it to shut down the Airline and make the Air Hostess on whom he had a crush lose her job. He also holds a grudge on the airlines over the food it serves.

Mr. Birju used Google Translator to write the letter in Urdu. He hardly expected that the letter would be discovered mid-air itself. 'Flight shouldn't land, it will be flown to PoK. You can hear people dying if you put the landing gear,' he wrote in the letter. The Pilot pressed the hijack button after he came to know about the letter and then an emergency landing took place.

Ahmedabad Crime Branch Police arrested Birju Kishore and took him to Mumbai for further investigation. A Case under Section 4(b) of the Anti-Hijacking Act, 2016, which leads to life imprisonment till death and forfeiture of all movable & immovable assets, was booked against him.
