Milk & Vegetables Crisis in Mumbai
X
Farmers of Maharashtra gave a call for statewide strike from June 1st after the talks with State Government failed. Kisan Kranti, the organization formed for the welfare of Farmers, has been spearheading this unique protest.

Supplies of Milk, Vegetables & Fruits in major cities such as Mumbai & Pune have been badly hit because of the ongoing strike. Farmers were spilling milk and vegetables on the roads rather than selling them as a mark of protest. Even supply of diaries and vegetables/fruits to markets has be stopped. Protestors have been attacking the tankers which has been transporting milk and veggies. Rythu Bazaars & Wholesale Markets has been shut down. Even leading dairies like Amul weren't able to meet its daily produce. 14 cops were injured in the stone-pelting incident. Around 50 farmers have been taken into custody.

Two Major demands of Farmers - Complete Farm Loan Waiver & Implementation of Swaminathan Committee recommendations such as MSP.

BJP Government alleges the strike is politically motivated and failed politicos were behind it. However, Farmers condemned these allegations and complained government lacked sincerity in resolving the issue. People were worried if this situation leads to a Milk and Vegetables crisis in Mumbai, Pune and Nasik.
