Munugode By-poll: Should Survey Results Be Taken Seriously?
X
Without any doubt, the upcoming by-poll in Munugode has increased the political heat in Telangana. The three major parties in the state are confident of winning the polls and on the other side, the parties kept themselves busy carving out winning plans and targeting their opponents.

Though two opposition parties Bharatiya Janata Party and grand old Congress are appearing strong and pose a big threat, the ruling TRS is taking BJP as a serious threat given the fact that BJP is in power at the centre and the stalwarts would campaign for the party as they did earlier.

To boost the winning chances and reduce the winning chances of the saffron party, the ruling TRS joined hands with the left parties. The Communist parties openly supported the TRS and said that defeating the mighty BJP is the need of the hour. As Nalgonda district still remains the stronghold of communists, this would come in handy for the TRS.

Amid this, the ruling party TRS is believed to have conducted a survey and the outcome of the survey is that the party would emerge victorious in the polls. The Congress and BJP would take the second and third positions in the polls. Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy would lose the polls in a big way reportedly.

Though the survey results are a big relief for the ruling party, how seriously the surveys can be taken is the big question here. Various issues impact the surveys and there is no rule that the surveys will be correct all the time. Many times the surveys could not predict the public pulse.

KCR might have said that to boost the morale of the party workers and activists so that they will give their best while working for the party during the campaign activities. This might be a mind game. The survey might have also been carried out and we cannot surely say that the survey results will be accurate.

Moreover, it is not ideal to simply bank on the surveys when the opposition parties are aggressively posing a threat. As KCR is seeing bigger dreams of entering national politics, the Chief Minister would not like to see his party win the by-elections.
