Munugode By Poll: Money and Gifts To Shape Voters' Opinion?
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 Nov 2022 7:11 AM GMTThe wait is finally over and the Munugode by-election will be held tomorrow. As the Election Model Code of Conduct came into effect the Election Commission asked the parties to stop the campaign from Tuesday evening and the parties called back the cadres from the poll-bound Munugode region.
On the last day of the campaign, the star leaders of the major parties aggressively campaigned. Barring a few tense situations like Etela Rajender’s convoy getting attacked everything went smoothly and the parties gave their best. Massive arrangements were made for the bypoll.
Given the intensity of the polls, the CRPF forces took the poll-bound Munugode into their control to see that no unwanted scenes take place. The political party leaders and their supporters left the region following the instructions of the Election Commission. Not just Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, and TRS, the new names like Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are also trying their luck.
Despite the campaign getting finished, the money continues to flow in Munugode as per the media reports. The parties are making sure that the money and gifts reach the voters to get their votes. Seeing the demand, the voters are asking the parties to pay as much as they demand reportedly.
In a ground report, a popular newspaper found that parties are spending massive money and each voter is reporting getting between Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000. Such is the demand the voters have. Earlier it was reported that a political party offered 1 gram of gold to voters along with their election symbol.
Even the political rallies in Munugode also turned costly with the attendees given money reportedly. The parties handed over Rs 500, liquor, and Biryani to people who attended the rallies reportedly.
With all this information one thing is confirmed here: money and the gifts the parties are offering to the voters would be a deciding factor in the Munugode bypolls.
As the distribution of the gifts for the Munugode by-poll is finished, it is going to be interesting to see if the gifts can shape the election outcome or not. The polls will be held tomorrow.
