Taking forward his tradition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached the Longewala post at the Rajasthan border on Saturday to celebrate Diwali with the soldiers.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Army Chief General MM Naravane, and Border Security Force (BSF) DG Rakesh Asthana in the Diwali celebrations.

On the occasion of Diwali celebrations, Narendra Modi has interacted with the soldiers at Longewala Post in Jaisalmer of Rajasthan. He said Diwali is incomplete without Jawans.

Talking further, PM Modi said he has brought the greeting of every citizen of the Country to the Jawans and said his happiness doubles when he sees the joy on the faces of soldiers.

He lauded the capabilities of the Indian Defence services and said the country is working towards making the defence sector atmanirbhar (self-reliant).

His visit to the camp came a day after Pakistani Troops have violated the ceasefire and targeted the civilian areas along the border. The incident resulted in 11 casualties, including five jawans.

Modi's visit can be seen as a tremendous boost to the morale of our jawans after the shocking ceasefire violations by arch-rivals Pakistan alongside the border.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and urged everyone to light a lamp as a bid to salute the Jawans who are protecting the country.

'This Diwali, let us also light a Diya as a #Salute2Soldiers who fearlessly protect our nation. Words can't do justice to the sense of gratitude we have for our soldiers for their exemplary courage. We are also grateful to the families of those on the borders,' his Tweet read.
