Mystery Over Authorship Of Ayodhya Verdict
X
The Supreme Court has put an end to the long pending Ayodhya Land Dispute by delivering a historic judgement on Saturday. Two Aspects still remain as a mystery - 1) Name of the Judge who authored the Judgement wasn't specified, 2) There's no mention about the name of the Judge who differed with the views of other four Judges on the exact birthplace of Lord Rama.

As per the existing practice, Name of the Judge who authored the judgement has to be mentioned in the judgement papers. However, Such an established practice was ignored considering the sensitivity of the Ayodhya case. Certainly, One among Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and Abdul Nazeer could be the author of the judgement on behalf of the 5-member bench. Who is the mystery author?

On the other hand, The author of the 116-page addendum, which specifies why the disputed land is the birthplace of Lord Rama, in the 1,045-page judgement also remains to be a mystery. One of the Five Judges has dissented on this issue but his name wasn't mentioned in the verdict.

In the unanimous verdict, The Supreme Court declared that disputed 2.77 acre land in Ayodhya will be handed over to a trust formed by the Centre for construction of Ram Temple. In addition, A direction was given to the Centre for allotment of alternative 5-acre land to the Sunni Waqf Board for construction of a mosque at a prominent place in Uttar Pradesh or in the 67 acres disputed land which was acquired by the government in 1993.
