Namaste Telangana MD to become TRS Rajya Sabha MP?
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 May 2022 4:18 AM GMTThe buzz in Pragathi Bhavan these days is that Chief Minister KCR is all set to reward his long time associate and managing director of TRS mouthpiece Namaste Telangana Deenakonda Damodar Rao with a Rajya Sabha seat. Sources say that his name has already been finalized and a formal announcement would be made soon.
Sources say that the TRS boss K Chandra Sekhar Rao has scrutinized several names before zeroing in on Damodar Rao's name. If all goes well, Damodar Rao will file his nominations on May 19. Damodar Rao is a trusted associate of KCR and has been a fellow traveler in the agitation for separate statehood.
The term of both Dharmapuri Srinivas and Captain Lakshmikantha Rao in Rajya Sabha is coming to an end on June 21. In addition, there was a vacancy created due to the resignation of Banda Prakash, who has since been made an MLC. The TRS boss is said to be working on finalizing the other two candidates.
Sources say that one of the remaining two seats would go to the OCs. The names of industrialist CL Rajam, former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Parthasarathi are doing rounds. The third seat could go to the scheduled castes. Several names including Motkupalli Narsimhulu are doing rounds. Also, the names of former minister Mandava Venkateswara Rao, Balamallu, Narendra Nath Chowdary and others are also being heard.
