Aadhaar saved $9 billion, will pass Privacy test!
By: Tupaki Desk | 14 Oct 2017 1:14 PM GMTNandan Nilekani, the architect of Aadhaar, exudes confidence that the Unique-Identity Number Plan will surely pass the test of privacy. He says Aadhaar saved USD 9 billion for Modi Government by eliminating frauds from the list of beneficiaries of welfare and development schemes.
At an event held by the Center for Global Development, Mr. Nilekani said he firmly believes India is very good at safeguarding the privacy of it's citizens. He says building a right digital infrastructure would yield great results for developing countries.
Over 1 billion people in India has enrolled to Aadhaar after the UPA Government introduced it. Currently, NDA Government continued it for better service to the people.
Supreme Court has opined Privacy is a fundamental right after several activities filed petitions against Aadhaar. Still, Governments have been keen on linking everything possible to the Aadhaar.
