Narendra Modi Clean India Challenge to Bollywood Stars
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 Oct 2014 8:55 AM GMTPrime Minister Narendra Modi wielded a broom on Thursday to launch the country's biggest ever cleanliness drive "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan".After paying tribute at the memorials of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries, Modi himself swept a pavement at Valmiki colony in Delhi's heart .
Speaking on the occasion Modi has said that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan should clean up the country by 2019, the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.He also challenged bollywood celebs to take up the challenge
"I have nominated nine individuals in the Swachh Bharat campaign.Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, Anil Ambani, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, actors Kamal Haasan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and all the television actors of Hindi serial 'Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chashma'Â’ says Modi.
Modi further added that the each person will nominate nine people each, and this chain will continue through social media.
The Centre will spend nearly Rs 2 lakh crore in a five-year span as part of its ambitious plan to completely clean India by October 2019
