The critics and people who closely follow politics have one question in mind, that is who will be an alternative for the BJP. Though leaders like Mamata Banerjee have surfaced, the point here is that, do the proposed alternatives have national acceptance like Narendra Modi's.

Amidst this backdrop, the political parties that are aiming at the bigger target are making their background work and making big plans. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is aggressively going ahead in this and making sure that she poses herself as the alternative to Narendra Modi.

In the middle of this, the Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) one of the parties in the Mahagathbandhan, had come up with a suggestion to the parties that are against the BJP and urged the parties to stay united to take on the BJP party.

NCP leader, Minister in Maharashtra Cabinet Nawab Malik while addressing the reporters said that, the party is thinking that the parties that are against the BJP should not divide the votes among the party which will benefit the BJP.

Talking about the party's activities in the coming days, the Minister said that NCP is aiming to call for unity among the party for the Goa elections. He said that the party is in touch with Congress, but the party is awaiting a response from the Congress party.

Adding further, the Minister said that the like-minded parties should come under one roof to support the opposition party which will contest the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh and Goa general elections so that the votes don't get divided.

Nawab Malik said that NCP is going ahead with the same approach for the Uttar Pradesh elections too and said, the party is in talks with the opposition party in UP Samajwadi Party to see that votes won't get divided.

The saffron party Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) which was struggling for existence in many states had surprised everyone with a landslide victory in the 2014 elections. Despite severe criticism, the BJP government went on to win the next elections with even more seats. As the party is facing severe criticism with issues like GST, fuel prices, and others, analysts say that BJP might have a tough road in the elections.
