Fuel prices are soaring high in several states across the nation over the past few months. The petrol prices in a few states have surpassed the century mark, while a few other states are inching towards the milestone.

The high fuel prices gave a chance for the opposition parties and political observers to mock the Narendra Modi-led union government. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit back at the opposition by blaming Congress claiming that the previous government has not focused on bringing down India’s dependence on energy imports.

The petrol price reached the century mark for the first time in Rajasthan, The petrol price per litre has increased to 100.13 in Sri Ganganagar on the 17th of February.

Madhya Pradesh became the second state in the country to cross the three-figure mark per litre. On Thursday, petrol price had reached to Rs. 100.25 per litre on Thursday in many cities.

The high fuel prices resulted in a meme fest on social media. A person, who is not happy with the high fuel prices protested in a unique way. He posed for a picture in the petrol bunk holding the cricket bat and a helmet. The pose is used by cricketers when they hit a ton.

The Twitter user has captioned the viral pic as, "After lot of hardwork and struggle finally !! Century for Petrol ! #PetrolPrice".

"petrol k century touch krne k baad pumpe pe salaami deta ek jabaaz customer. After a 28 paise rise on Sunday morning, the per-liter rate of petrol with additives for retail sale crossed Rs 100", a user tweeted.

In a sarcastic way, several users have thanked Narendra Modi after the petrol prices have surpassed the century mark in a few regions in the country.
