Water Sharing Disputes: Telugu States Chief Ministers Vary With Each Others Opinions
X
The never-ending tale of water disputes between the sibling states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on sharing Krishna river water continues as the Apex council meeting did not yield in a fruitful solution.

During the Apex Council meeting that was chaired by the Union Water Resources Ministry virtually, the Chief Ministers differed with each other's opinions in this regard.

TRS Chief, Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao severely opposed the intercession of the Centre regarding the implementation of the projects. He also found fault with the Centre for not allocating water for the states.

On the other hand, his Andhra Pradesh counterpart YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is in favour of the Centre possessing the power to allocate water to the states.

Some media reports claimed that KCR put forth a demand in front of the Apex council that the jurisdiction of the inter-state projects should not be notified by the Centre, while Jagan has quite contradictory demand.

KCR is believed to have demanded the council that the responsibility of operation and control of Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam projects should be left to Telangana state.

Jagan severely opposed the demand and told the council that the Krishna River Management should be given the operational control of Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam projects.

Both the Telugu states will submit a comprehensive report over the under-construction and proposed schemes over the Krishna river. After looking into the reports, the Centre will take a decision.
