India Reports Over 38,000 Cases In 24 Hours
By: Tupaki Desk | 19 July 2020 5:44 AM GMTIn a shocking development, India straightaway reported over 26,000 cases for eight consecutive as a total of 38,902 infections were reported in the past 24 hours. This is the highest surge of cases in a single day so far.
With this, the total infections of the contagious disease in India zoomed to 10,77,618 and inching towards the 11 lakh-mark. With 543 fresh casualties reported in 24 hours, the total fatalities in the country reached 26,816.
So far 6,77,423 patients managed to recover from the respiratory disease across the states and the active cases stood at 3,73,379. For the first time, the gap between active cases and recovered cases widened by around 4 lakh.
Looking at the samples tested for the ongoing pandemic, a total of 3,58,127 samples were tested on Saturday, and as of the 18th of July, as many as 1,37,91,869 samples were tested for the virus.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and national capital Delhi emerged as the worst-affected states in the country in terms of pandemic infections. These states account for around 70% of the total cases in India.
Globally, the total infections mounted to over 14 million, while more than 6,00,000 people succumbed to the contagious disease. The United States which is the worst-hit country in the world has around 3.7 million cases.
