COVID-19 Fear: One More Lineage Of Pandemic Emerge In Nigeria!

The novel Coronavirus, which has been troubling the world over the past one year has been changing its form since September, this year. New variants of Coronavirus have been detected in the United Kingdom and South Africa so far.
Now, it is believed that another new strain of the pandemic has emerged in West African country Nigeria, which is more contagious and transmit quickly compared to other strains, an official said.
Addressing the press conference, John Nkengasong, head of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said a new strain which is different from the virus strain reported in the UK and South Africa was detected in Nigeria.
However, he said it is very early to draw a conclusion about the new lineage. We are examining the new virus strains, more details will be revealed after the test reports are out.
John Nkengasong said, through the lineage is different from the variants found in the UK and South Africa, it has not spread rapidly among the public like how it happened in the UK.
Talking about the situation in South Africa, Nkengasong said, the transmission rate of the pandemic is at an alarming rate and hoped that, the new strains will not have any impact on the Covid-19 deployment.
