New Zealand had witnessed the worst terror attack last year where 51 people at two mosques were killed by Australian Brenton Tarrant, 29.

Brenton Tarrant sparked global revulsion on March 15, 2019, when he attacked two Christchurch mosques for 20 minutes during Friday prayers.

He had admitted to the murder of 51 people, attempted murder of another 40 people and one charge of terrorism.

A New Zealand court has sentenced him life in prison without parole, and he became the first person in the country's history to receive this sentence. New Zealand does not have the death penalty as part of its justice system.
