New Zealand Tour: India Wins T20 Series, Loses ODI Series!
By: Tupaki Desk | 30 Nov 2022 1:12 PM GMTIn the absence of the senior players, team India got a big chance to test the young players who were selected for the tour of New Zealand. Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan were made the skippers of the Indian team for the T20 and ODI sides respectively.
Rain played a big role in the series. While rain worked for us in the T20 series, we had to lose the series due to rain in the 50-overs format. The third match which was played today was washed away due to rain. India barely managed to post a total of 220 runs.
The New Zealand team put up a good show with the ball as India was restricted to just 219. If not for the sensational knocks of Shreyas Iyer and Washington Sundar, who scored 49 and 51 respectively India would have not scored a fighting total.
As the New Zealand team won the first T20 match the hosts were declared the series winner. Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bowl first. His bowlers did not let him down as Indian batsmen could not stretch their hands.
Despite losing the series there is a piece of good news for India. We got to see a good performance from off-spin all-rounder Washington Sundar. After scoring 37 runs in the first ODI, Sundar scored a sensational half-century. All-rounders come in handy in big tournaments and if we can groom him he might shine big on the big stage.
