The premature babies were born on the 17th of June and sadly on the same day, the trio tested positive for the contagious disease. The official statement issued by the hospital stated that out of the three babies, two babies- one boy and one girl were in stable condition while the second boy is giving treatment for respiratory issues.
It is believed that the parents of the triplets are asymptomatic and reportedly the virus might have got transmitted to the newborns through her mother. However, the authorities are investigating the cause of the virus.
This is the first time, the virus was reported in multiple births worldwide. The authorities have decided to test the parents of the newborns for the pandemic as a precautionary step.
The data collected by the famous Johns Hopkins University stated that Mexico currently has 185,122 infections and 22,584 fatalities in connection with the contagious disease.
