NGT Serves Notices To AP Government And Defendants Over KG Basin Pollution

The National Green Tribunal(NGT) which heard the petition regarding leakages and Oil pipeline blasts in the KG Basin, served notice to the Andhra Pradesh Government, Krishna district Collector, Godavari district collector, and the Defendants.
The Tribunal constituted an expert committee to study the pollution levels in the KG Basin and the committee will submit the reports in two months.
The case reached the NGT, after the petitioner Venkatapati Raja who hails from the Sakhinetipalli village of East Godavari moving the tribunal stating that the oil leakage and pipeline blasts at the basin is resulting in loss of life and loss of property.
The committee comprises of representatives of the Central Ministry of Environment, Central Pollution Control Board, Krishna-Godavari district collectors, and Andhra University Petroleum Engineering Department professor.
