AP Local Body Polls: Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar asks CS to implement model code of conduct (MCC)
By: Tupaki Desk | 30 Jan 2021 1:34 PM GMTIn the wake of the upcoming Local Body polls, Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar gave a big blow to the government by focusing on the model code of conduct (MCC).
In his recent letter to Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary(CS) Adityanath Das, the SEC asked him to implement the model code of conduct (MCC) in poll-bound areas.
He asked the CS to implement the MCC in the state till the polls get commenced. The Local Body elections will be held in the four phases on February 5, 9, 13, and 17 from 6.30 am to 3.30 pm.
Citing the MCC, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar asked the CS to restrict the Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and other Public Representatives in the state from using the government vehicles and infrastructure till the elections are completed.
Till the elections and vote counting of the Panchayat elections get over, the SEC asked the CS to see that the public representatives will not use the government vehicles and offices.
The MCC also restricts the government advisors and leaders who hold a cabinet rank, from using the government vehicles while attending the press conference until the vote counting gets over.
In the letter to Chief Secretary, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has also asked the Chief Secretary to see that the Ministers and other leaders won’t hold any meetings in the poll-bound areas.
These orders did not go well with the spokesperson of YSRCP Ambati Rambabu. He found fault with the MCC and alleged that the SEC is being guided by some unknown forces.
