AP Local Body Polls: Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has plan B!

The Local Body election row in Andhra Pradesh has reached the top court in the country, the Supreme Court with the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy knocking on the doors of it challenging the verdict of the AP High Court.
After hearing the petition, the Supreme Court on Monday cleared the deck for the commencement of Panchayat elections. The court gave a green signal to conduct the local body elections.
Andhra Pradesh state election commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, who got a major boost up with the Supreme Court's orders chaired a meeting with the district collectors on Monday.
The media reports claimed that in the meeting Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar directed the collectors to make sure that the employees of the Andhra Pradesh working at the government offices should be deployed for the elections.
Adding further, the SEC told the collectors that he has written a letter to the Union Home Secretary to seek the central staff for the commencement of the Local Body elections.
However, the SEC is said to be awaiting a response from the Home Secretary, though he is expecting a positive response from the department.
Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar's letter to Union Home Secretary came in the backdrop of the Andhra Pradesh employees' union's response that they will participate in the elections given the Corona fear.
Andhra Pradesh (AP) Government Employees Federation Chairman Venkatram Reddy has earlier created a stir by claiming that they will not be a part of the elections as they don't want to take a risk with their health.
He said, until and unless the employees are vaccinated against the Coronavirus, the employees will not be a part of the Local Body elections.
Following this, SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar made a plan B by seeking the help of the Union Home Secretary. As a major share of AP employees is in opinion to not be a part of polls, he has requested the Union Home Secretary to send the central staff.
