By: Tupaki Desk | 6 March 2021 10:58 AM GMTThe division bench of Andhra Pradesh on Friday directed the ward volunteers to deposit their phones with the election officials till the upcoming Municipal elections are commenced. The time and date for mobile phones would be fixed by Municipal Commissioner.
Following the court's verdict, Andhra Pradesh's State Election Commissioner(SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar issued a statement with orders for the ward volunteers over the Municipal polls.
In the statement, the SEC reportedly warned the Village volunteers to not get involved in the campaign activities pertaining to the civic body polls.
Citing the election Model Code of Conduct(MCC), Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumaar said, taking part in the election campaign is a violation of MCC and said he received several complaints about the involvement of volunteers in the campaign from several sections.
To address the complaints regarding the civic body polls, the SEC said the public can register their complaints through call centre on 0866-2466877. The call centre works round the clock and their issues will be resolved immediately.
The SEC said the complaints and issues can be raised by mailing to the e-mail id of the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission and the concerned officials like collectors and Municipal Commissioners. State Commission's mail id is ID: secy.apsec2@gmail.com
On the other hand, the SEC reportedly maintained that the village volunteers were advised not to meet the beneficiaries of the govt schemes and if anyone meets the beneficiaries they will be punished.
