The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reinstituted Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the State Election Commissioner(SEC) on late hours on Thursday.

An official order was also issued by Gopal Krishna Dwivedi, Principal Secretary of State Panchayat Raj and Rural Development in regard to reinstating Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as SEC going by the directions of state Governor.

In the order, Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan maintained that he restored Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as SEC in obedience with the directions given by AP High Court.

Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar was sacked as the SEC by the AP government by bringing an ordinance to cut short the tenure of SEC. With this, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar moved the High Court and Supreme Court.

He got a relief when the Andhra Pradesh High Court ruled out to cancel the ordinance put forth by the government to cut short the tenure of the SEC and appointed retired Judge as AP SEC.
