Following the deadly Covid-19 outbreak, the centre led by Prime Minister announced a stimulus package under Atmanirbhar Bharat to boost the Indian economy which faced severe losses during the lockdown period.

Now the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharamn has announced a stimulus package worth Rs 2.65 lakh crore. The package aims at employment creation in the country during a press briefing.

Indian news agency Asian News International(ANI) quoted Narmala Sitharamn as saying "The size of the stimulus being provided by the government, as part of the 12 announcements made today under Aatmanirbhar Bharat 3.0, amounts to Rs 2.65 lakh crores. 15% of national GDP as stimulus takeaway".

Speaking during the press briefing, Nirmala Sitharaman said, since the Covid-19 pandemic has started in the country the Centre and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) provided a total fiscal stimulus of Rs 29.87 lakh crore. The total stimulus amount translates to 15% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).

The Finance Minister announced Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana at the press briefing. Talking further, she said the new scheme will lend a helping hand to the employees who join companies that are registered with the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation(EPFO).

However, the scheme will benefit the newly joining employees that earn less than 15,000 with the establishments that are enrolled with the EPFO.

The scheme will also be beneficial to the Establishments registered with EPFO that recruit new employees. To avail the benefits, companies with around 50 employees have to recruit not less than two new employees. Companies with more than 50 employees should hire five fresh candidates.
