To give a boost to the infrastructure and improve the connectivity, more than half a century National Highways were inaugurated in Andhra Pradesh.

The projects that cost around Rs 21,559 crore would be coming up in the temple city Vijayawada. The foundation stones for the projects were also laid today.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari was in the state to launch the second fly-over at Vijayawada Benz Circle.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Minister of Tourism of India Kishan Reddy were also present on the occasion and the trio launched the flyover.

Speaking on the occasion, Nitin Gadkari had assured that the Union government will lend a helping hand to Andhra Pradesh to improve the roads and flyovers so that good connectivity can be offered. He said that the developmental works will cost around Rs 3 lakh crores.

The Union Minister said that four highways involving the state will be built at a whopping cost of Rs 17,000 crores. By 2024 Raipur-Vizag, and by 2025, Nagpur-Vijayawada and Bengaluru-Chennai highways will be built via Andhra Pradesh, Gadkari said.

Highlighting how the infrastructure will help in boosting the logistics and connectivity, Nitin Gadkari said that the 4-lane road that connects Visakhapatnam and Kakinada will come in handy for business and other needs.
