Has BJP Tricked Mayavati?
By: Tupaki Desk | 4 Oct 2018 7:00 AM GMTBahujan Samaj Party, which till yesterday appeared set for a coalition with the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, has suddenly changed tack and has announced that it will go it alone in the coming elections. This has upset the Congress apple-cart. But, why did Mayavati change her stance so suddenly?
No doubt, Mayavati is a maverick politician. She has a history of changing partners and ditching friends. But, ditching alliance ahead of election is something very significant. This move will definitely help the BJP and of course Modi. But, why did she change her stance?
One reason being touted by political watchers is that it could do with the cases against Mayavati. The BSP supremo needs to come out of the cases and the BJP must have pulled the strings to bend her.
But, there is another interesting buzz. Highly placed sources said that the BJP has offered deputy prime minister position to Mayavati. It is the lure of this position that must have forced Mayavati to break out of the alliance. But, when will Mayavati be made a deputy PM? Definitely not before 2019 as the government’s tenure is coming to an end. It could only be after 2019 elections and only if the BJP does not get full majority. So, has the BJP tricked Mayawati?
