No buses for Bathukamma festival as strike begins
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 Oct 2019 11:59 AM GMTHundreds of people stranded at the bus stations and people traveling to their destinations for celebrating Bathukamma and Dussehra festival faced severe inconvenience as aver 10,000 buses remained in the bus depots.
Out of 10,000 buses of TSRTC, 2100 are hired buses. Officials have made plans to operate these hired buses and deployed temporary drivers.
The Joint Action Committee of TSRTC employees unions claims that all 50,000 employees are participating in the strike. The Government has declared the strike illegal and warned that those not returning to duties by 6 pm on Saturday will be dismissed from service.
The Government said it would make alternative arrangements to avoid inconvenience to the passengers during the strike period by hiring private travel operators, to meet the demand of passengers during Dussehra festive season.
