No Cakewalk For DMK-Congress Alliance In Tamil Nadu

The Tamil voters are in the habit of voting out incumbents every five years. They would thrust huge majority to the winner this time, only to send them packing the next elections. Only during the last elections did they buck the trend. They re-elected Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK. But, ever since she departed, the AIADMK is rudderless. Sasikala, the second tallest leader, is serving a sentence in Karnataka jail. So, one feels that the Palanisamy-Paneerselvam-led AIADMK may not be a match to the DMK-Congress front. Even anti-incumbency could unseat the AIADMK, one thought.
But, the polling trends available on Thursday show that AIADMK is no pushover and that it may not be a cakewalk for the DMK-Congress alliance. The AIADMK is fighting in alliance with the PMK, MDMK of actor Vijayakanth and the BJP. The DMK has the Congress and the MDMK of Vaigo with it. So, the fight appears to be quite tough this time. The DMK might still win but it would definitely not a landslide for it. There are parties like Kamal Haasan’s party and TTV Dhinakaran's party too in the fray. But, their impact would be known only after the election results are out.
