No Chance for Congress in Rajya Sabha Polls
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 May 2016 3:38 PM GMTThe tenure of present Rajya Sabha Members will end on June 21st this year. Most of the senior leaders mayn't get re-elected this time. Congress leaders JD Seelam (AP), Jairam Ramesh (AP), V Hanumantha Rao (Telangana) and Gundu Sudha Rani (Telangana) won't be given a chance again. Even the term of BJP leader Niramala Seetharaman and TDP leader Sujana Chowdhary comes to an end.
V Hanumantha Rao and Gundu Sudha Rani will be retiring. Chief Election Commissioner on Thursday announced that election will be held on June 11th to fill these vacancies.
Congress have no chance of winning at least a single Rajya Sabha seat in Telugu States this time. While the National party failed to win a single MLA seat in AP during 2014 polls, Only 14 MLAs remained loyal to the party so far in Telangana. Even taking the support of TDP (3 MLAs) and Left Parties (2 MLAs) won't be useful as a Rajya Sabha nominee requires the support of 40 MLAs.
