No Cockfights for Sankranthi 2016: AP Govt

Andhra Pradesh Government told the Hyderabad High Court that cockfights willn't be allowed during the Sankranthi season this year.
Narahari Jagadish Kumar who is a native of West Godavari filed a PIL in High Court seeking direction to AP Government not to permit cockfights during Pongal season. Division Bench comprising of Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice SV Bhatt favored the petitioner while passing the judgement.
In view of these developments, AP Government's counsel B Satyanarayana informed the High Court about the orders issued to District SPs asking them not to allow cockfights.
On the other hand, BJP Leader Raghu Rama Krishna Raju's counsel S Ramachandra Rao appealed High Court to permit cockfights this year.
