No Condolence Meets For Deceased Congress Stalwarts
By: Tupaki Desk | 26 Dec 2020 3:21 AM GMTNormally, when someone passes away, holding a condolence meet is the norm for anyone. But, in the Congress Party, this is not happening. Of late, the party is not holding condolence meets even when seniors pass away.
Take for instance, Ahmed Patel. He ate, drank, slept and lived Congress. He used to say that Congress was his only love. But, look at the irony. It's been one month since Ahmed Patel passed away and the Congress is yet to hold a condolence meeting for him. Similarly, three more senior leaders had passed away and the Congress did not even bother to organize a condolence meet.
The three-time Assam chief minister and North East India's stalwart Tarun Gogoi passed away a few months ago. But, no condolence meeting was held either by the AICC or by the CWC. Two time MP CM and interim Congress chief for some time, Motilal Vohra has died recently. The party is not planning a condolence meeting anytime soon.
In fact, the Congress is yet to hold a condolence meeting for former president Pranab Mukherjee, who was the Congress trouble-shooter for years before becoming the president of the country. This is being joked at in the political circles. Is the Congress dead before it has really died, quipped a senior Congressman.
