No Hope Of Winning, But Competition for BJP ticket in Nagarjunasagar

The BjP is in a fix over Nagarjunasagar. Post the debacle in the Graduate MLC elections, the party has dampened a bit. These reversals are bound to have some impact on the party's campaign in Nagarjunasagar. With the winning streak stopped, the party leaders and cadre are confused.

The last time the BJP contested the assembly elections in 2018, the BJP could get just 2600 seats. Needless to say, the BJP has lost its security deposit in the election. Despite all these things, there is a stiff competition for the BJP ticket in Nagarjunasagar elections. This is because even if the candidate loses the election, he would become a claimant for the party ticket in 2023. Whoever contests this time and gets up to 20000 votes, can lay claim for the party ticket in the next election.

So, there is a keen contest between 2018 candidate Nivedita Reddy and TDP-turned-BJP leader Kadari Anjaiah Yadav. Anjaiah had contested on TDP ticket in 2014 and secured over 28000 votes. So, he too is laying claim for the seat. So, despite not having any chances of victory, there is a stiff competition for the BJP ticket.
