Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao informed media after meeting PM Narendra Modi in Delhi recently that there willn't be delimitation of Assembly constituencies in Telugu States anytime soon. A confirmation is being issued in Parliament in this regard Today.

TDP MP Murali Mohan & TRS MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy sought clarification from Centre on the delimitation of Assembly Constituencies in AP & Telangana. Minister of State (Home Affairs) Hansraj Gangaram Ahir informed Centre isn't considering delimitation of Assembly segments before 2019. 'Article 170(3) of the Constitution has to be amended to increase Assembly Constituencies before 2019. That's not going to be possible in the current scenario. Delimitation of Assembly Segments will happen only in 2026 depending on the population,' he confirmed.

As per AP Reorganisation Act 2014, Assembly Constituencies in AP will be increased from 175 to 225 and Telangana from 119 to 153. Ruling Parties in Telugu States lured many opposition MLAs assuring them tickets in 2019 Polls. However, They will end up dealing with group wars after Centre refused to increase the existing Assembly segments.
