Bombay High Court Today given a ruling that IPL Matches scheduled until 30th of April can only be allowed to be held in Maharashtra. This means, Mumbai Indians and Pune Franchise have to choose alternative venues for matches in May 2016.

The Court opined, 'Although shifting IPL Matches isn't a solution for drought, But the water used during the matches could be diverted to drought-hit areas in Maharashtra'.

BCCI told to Bombay High Court that shifting IPL Matches out of Maharashtra isn't feasible and the state will love Rs 100 crore revenue by doing so. The Cricket Board informed the court about the willingness of Mumbai and Pune franchises to pay Rs 5 crore each to the CM Relief Fund if IPL Matches were allowed in Maharashtra. BCCI also offered to supply 60 lakh litres of non-potable water to drought-hit areas in Maharashtra free of cost. Still, The judgement of High Court wasn't in favor of the board and IPL teams.
