Soon after the Cabinet Meeting last night, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah announced Cauvery water willn't be released to Tamil Nadu. This comes under violation of the Supreme Court order permitting release of 6,000 cusecs of water per day for a period of one week from September 22nd.

A special session of legislative assembly will be convened on September 23rd to discuss on Supreme Court's order favoring Tamil Nadu. Karnataka Cabinet decided to turn off the Cauvery tap until Assembly takes a final call Tomorrow.

In the all-party meeting, All the political parties in Karnataka decided to differ with SC order. Former PM & JD (U) supremo HD Deve Gowda supported the decision of Karnataka Government. He opined Drinking Water is more important than Crops and Farmers could be compensated for crop failure. While Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge commented, 'What is contempt of court? People are dying here!', BJP's Veerappa Moily told Apex Court order can't be implemented.
