Cheerleaders in IPL to disappear
By: Tupaki Desk | 7 Sept 2017 10:22 AM ISTStar Sports acquired the Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights for a whopping Rs 16,347.5 crore for the next five years till 2022. Bagging the rights for a staggering price is a reflection of the monopoly of Star Sports over broadcasting Indian Cricket. Which means each ball bowled in IPL is worth Rs 23.3 lakh for BCCI.
One aspect that's been adding more glamour to IPL during the last 10 Editions is the presence of Cheerleaders. The dark side of this Culture: Lewd Comments were passed on Cheerleaders and their Pictures were clicked in obscene angles. The dancing dolls have to bear all of these nonsense for getting their pay cheque.
However, Star Sports decided not to rely on skin show anymore. The Broadcaster feels presence of cheer girls in the stadium & their feats after every scoring ball would only divert the attention of the viewers from the sport.
Experts say, This isn't a wise idea by Star especially after investing so much. There are people who watch IPL or any T20 Tourney for cheer girls and what's wrong about adding glamour to a sport!
