No powers, No funds: Most chairpersons of Govt corporations in AP unhappy!
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 April 2022 12:30 PM GMTHas the decision to give corporation chairperson posts to several trusted party workers, who otherwise could not be given MLA or MLC tickets, appears to be boomeranging on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy? Over 100 such corporation posts have been created and important leaders have been given these posts. But, not many of them are happy.
Many such chairpersons are alleging that they do not have any real power. They also do not have any real work. More importantly, they do not have any fund allocation. Several of them are chairpersons only in name. Recently LIDCAP chairperson Kakumanu Rajasekhar said that he was just a namesake head without any real power.
He said that the officials were not giving them any importance. He said that the officials were ignoring them while making key decisions. He said that the rules say that only those with over Rs 1 crore turnover can get LIDCAP contracts. Thus, no Dalit is able to get the benefits of the contracts,he said.
Sources say that the situation in most corporations are similar. The chairpersons have no real discretionary power and hence they are mere figureheads with no power whatsoever. The corporation chairpersons are now demanding that the laws be amended to give them specific tasks and allocated a fixed quantity of funds.
