Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt hopes getting a relief in Mumbai serial blasts case got ruined on Friday with the decision taken by the Supreme Court to dismiss his plea seeking review of its judgement on five-year jail team awarded to him.

As a result, the judgement passed by the judges P Sathasivam and BS Chauhan on March 21st remains unaltered. Sanjay Dutt will have surrender on May 16th to serve the remaining three-and-half years jail term.

Earlier, the Apex Court had reduced the six years jail term delivered by the TADA court to five years. However, Supreme refused to release him on probation as the nature of his crime was serious.

The 53-year-old actor was charged for illegal possession of arms, including AK-56 rifle and 9 mm pistol which were part of the weapons and explosives brought to India by the conspirators for the serial blasts. About 257 people were killed and 700 got injured due to the 1993 Mumbai blasts.
