The new strain of Coronavirus surfaced in Britain in Mid-September has made India as well as the world to focus on taking precautionary measures to contain the new Coronavirus strain.

Media reports are abuzz that the new strain of the novel Coronavirus has entered Andhra Pradesh after a woman who returned to Rajahmundry from Britain has tested positive for Coronavirus.

With this development raising many fears and concerns over the new strain of the virus, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education of Andhra Pradesh responded to the matter.

The Minister said, the new strain of Coronavirus has not entered the state and the government is vigilant in taking precautionary measures in advance and urged the public to follow the rules and regulations.

Talking about the Rajahmundry positive case, the Minister said an Anglo-Indian woman, Mary Winfred Ann, who came from Britain dodged the protocols arrived in Rajahmundaty on a special train.

After the health department was informed by the Delhi Airport Authorities over the issue, we have responded quickly and sent the woman and her son into an isolation facility at the Rajahmundry Government Hospital.

It is also said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the authorities to keep an eye on the passengers coming from other countries and send them to the quarantine facility so that the virus is not spread further.
