No takers for MP seats in TDP
X
The TDP, which has fought election after election with gusto, is now wary of contesting MP elections, The TDP had won twice, but lost thrice under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu. But the battle-hardened TDP is now finding that there are no candidates who are interested in fighting the MP elections.

Even as Chandrababu Naidu is trying to woo prospective alliance partners, more and more leaders are backing off from fighting for the MP seat. Already several key leaders have indicated that they are no longer interested in fighting for Lok Sabha seat. Some have openly told this to the party boss.

An MP seat means managing seven to eight assembly constituencies. An MP candidate is expected to fund and support all these MLAs. In addition to these, they must finance their own election. This is fast turning out to be an arduous task. With YS Jagan attacking the financial roots of most of the TDP leaders, they are unable to get the required funds for the election.

Only four or five candidates appear to be ready to fight the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Of the three MPs that the party currently has, only Rammohan Naidu is fully geared up to fight for the Lok Sabha seat. Kesineni Nani, though currently active, is an unpredictable maverick. Guntur MP Galla Jayadev is now in hibernation especially after the YSRCP slapped cases against his company.
