No VIPs, No Media For This Swearing-In
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 March 2020 9:25 AM ISTPolitics in times of Corona can be very difficult. Getting sworn in as Chief Minister is big deal. But for three-time MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, this is one swearing-in he will never forget. No VIPs, no national leaders, no special invites and not even ministerial colleagues. Not even media was allowed due to Corona scare.
When he was sworn in as the Chief Minister for the fourth time, Shivraj Singh was almost alone. Only governor and a few officials were present at the ceremony. This is the most sombre celebrations possible. On Monday, he was elected the leader of the BJP legislature party leader and he was invited to form the government. Even in this programme, the national level observers Arun Singh participated only through video conferencing. He formally announced the selection of Shivraj Singh Chouhan through video-conferencing.
Shivraj Singh is likely to induct some ministers next week. The BJP came back to power after 22 Congress MLAs owing allegiance to Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned and brought down the strength of the house from 230 to 206. Two MLAs had recently passed away. The half-way mark thus came down to 104. The Congresss strength has come down to just 92 due to the resignations.
