Norway Women's Beach Handball Team Fined For Not Wearing Bikinis

As the prestigious Tokyo Olympics are underway, the debate over who should decide the dress code for the women athletes has started.
The debate on what women athletes should wear had kickstarted after the
European Handball Federation announced a fine for the Norwegian women’s beach handball team.
The reason behind imposing fine is that the team had opted to wear shorts in place of bikini bottoms.
Saying that the team members have violated the guidelines, the Federation announced the fine against the team members.
Before the start of the match, the Norwegian women's team has moved the Federation saying that the women athletes will take part in the tournament in shorts as the traditional bikini wear makes them uncomfortable. However, the federation said they can't allow that.
The Norwegian women's team took a call to go ahead with the decision to wear shorts and did the same at the European Beach Handball Championship when they locked horns with Spain.
After this, several female athletes and sports activities are slamming the dress code which is misogynist in form. They are questioning why the same rules won't apply for men athletes as they can wear shorts for the sports.
When the Handball Federation announced a fine against the Norwegian women's team, American singer and songwriter Pink supported the team and said she will bear the fine amount.
Showering praises on the team for fighting against the sexist rules, the singer said she will pay the fine and told the team to keep up the fight.
"I'm VERY proud of the Norwegian female beach handball team FOR PROTESTING THE VERY SEXIST RULES ABOUT THEIR "uniform". The European handball federation SHOULD BE FINED FOR SEXISM. Good on ya, ladies. I'll be happy to pay your fines for you. Keep it up," she tweeted.
As another example of the issues with the dress code for the women athletes, Para-athlete Olivia Breen was told by an official that the shorts she wears are two revealing.
However, such incidents of athletes facing issues with their uniform or the teams attracting fines for wearing the dress they want to was not reported at the Tokyo Olympics so far.
