Not BJP, But This Party Is The Biggest Enemy For Congress In Maharashtra
By: Tupaki Desk | 18 Oct 2019 11:25 AM GMTWho is the biggest enemy of the Congress in Maharashtra? It's neither the BJP nor the Shiv Sena. It's the Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen or the MIM of Asaduddin Owaisi. Unbelievable but true. The Congress and its ally Nationalist Congress Party feel that the MIM is actually ruining their chances of winning in several constituencies. By being in the fray, the MIM is taking away Muslim votes, which otherwise would have gone to the Congress Party or its ally. The Congress feels that the MIM and its ally Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi of Prakash Ambedkar have robbed them of victory in at least nine Lok Sabha seats. Together these two parties have polled over 40 lakh votes. So, the Congress feels that the MIM is only playing spoilspot and is indirectly helping the BJP.
This time around, the MIM and the VBA are fighting separately. But, MIM is hugely popular in the Muslim dominated belts. It's presence would actually hit the chances of the Congress. Hence the Congress leaders are waging an allout battle against the MIM. They are calling MIM the B Team of the BJP and are charging it with entering into an underhand dealing with the BJP.
The MIM is vigorously campaigning in Maharashtra especially in the Marathwada belt, which was part of the erstwhile Hyderabad state. In fact, MIM was very strong in the Marathwada region during the time of Nizams. So, the voters are responding quite enthusiastically to Asaduddin Owaisi's speeches in this region. The party has two MPs in all and one of them is from Aurangabad constituency.
