Not Just Debts, Telugu States Also Top in Drug Abuse?

Drug abuse is a disturbing trend in society and there is a need of addressing it at the earliest. The youth population is the key resource of India and sadly, the majority of youths are using drugs and alcohol. As a shot in the arm to address the issue, the Union government started a scheme titled Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan'.
The scheme comes under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and a recent survey was conducted to track the details of drug abuse and alcohol habits in the country. The survey was conducted in more than two hundred and seventy districts across the country.
The survey has found that around 15 crores of people consume alcohol in India. Those who consume alcohol hail from various age groups between 18 and 75. Not just men, but women also consume alcohol
Not just alcohol, drug abuse also saw a rise in the country and people from various districts are consuming the banned substances. According to the new survey, India has 15 crore alcohol consumers, followed by 3 crore consumers and 9.4v lakh consumers who take Ganja and Cocaine respectively.
Reportedly, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have districts which a good number of drug abusers. During the pandemic time, we have seen how various drug rackets in both states were busted. Even the shore city Vizag seeing drug busting cases came as a big surprise.
Now the surprise went even further as the survey said both states have districts with a high rate of drug abusers. Earlier today, the union government said, the Telugu states are taking high debts. Looks like, besides debts, the states are also on top in drug abusers.
