Not more than 1,400 Votes per Polling Booth: EC

The Election Commission has decided to limit the number of votes to be polled in a polling booth to 1,400. Why is it so?

Thermal Paper-Roll in the Voter-Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) Machines can print anywhere around 1,500 slips. Close to 100 slips will be printed during the commissioning of the paper trail machines and mock poll. So, EC took the call that votes polled in each polling station shouldn't exceed 1,400-mark.

VVPAT Machines were used for the first time for Noksen Assembly Poll in Nagaland in the year 2013. In 2014 Polls, This model was used in 8 Lok Sabha segments. Goa is the first state to have 100 percent VVPAT Machines. All the polling booths in poll bound Himachal Pradesh will have these papertrail machines. By October next year, Election Commission will be able to provide VVPAT Machines for the polling stations at every nook and corner in the country.

The doubts raised by losing political parties over accuracy of EVMs has been cleared by VVPAT Machines. Voter could see to which he/she has casted their vote for few seconds with the help of these machines.
