Supreme Court Today took serious note of the problems faced by the Common Man with demonetization. It observed there is every possibility of riots on the streets if the issue of cash crunch wasn't addressed.

In response to the plea of Centre seeking a direction to lower courts that petitions challenging November 8th demonetization notification, The Apex Court maintained such serious issue indeed require consideration. Chief Justice TS Thakur opined People have been approaching the courts only because of the difficulties they have been facing since the past 10 days.

SC asked why Centre isn't able to dispense sufficient Rs 100 notes after scrapping Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. Centre informed ATMs currently have a single drawer for Rs 100 notes and they need to be recalibrated to meet the demand.

When a lawyer maintained that color of Rs 2000 notes gets effected when they are wet, Chief Justice commented, 'Then, Don't put them in water'.
