X
If Bengal's Supriyo Chakravarthy and Punjab's Abhay Dang have created history by becoming the first gay married couple, two Bengali girls - Paromita and Surobhi are all set to become the first married lesbian couple. Their engagement was just held in Maharashtra's Nagpur and their marriage would be performed in Goa.

Both Surabhi and Paromita are doctors and are pursuing active medical career. Both work at the same place and have been in a relationship for the past several years. Now they have decided to enter the wedlock. They say it was not easy for both their families to reconcile to a lesbian marriage.

While Paromita's father took the idea of a lesbian marriage in his stride, her mother was left shell-shocked. He had to be convinced for several weeks before agreeing to the wedding. Paromita claims that her father knew her Lesbian tendencies for long and was not surprised when he pur forward the proposal. In case of Surabhi, there wasn't much opposition.

Both Surabhi and Paromita said that their marriage would be performed in Goa and invitations would be extended to friends, family members and supporters. They say they are aware of the consequences of a lesbian marriage and understand the pressures and reactions from the society. However, they say they are confident of convincing people about their sexual preferences.
